walmart thanksgiving hours

Closings, special hours set for holiday

While most government employees will be able to join the throngs of post Thanksgiving shoppers Friday, federal employees will be hard at work. All state, county and local offices will be closed today and Friday. Some credit union and library employees also will have Friday off.

• Government: Federal offices will be open Friday. All other government offices will be closed.

• Malls: Malls will be closed today, but will open early Friday. Although recommended Friday hours at the Eastwood Towne Center are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., some stores will open at 5:30 a.m. or 6 a.m. Meridian and Lansing mall store hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, but the Disney store at the Lansing Mall will open at 4:30 a.m., and the mall doors will open at 3:30 a.m. Macy's and J.C. Penney at the Lansing Mall also will have their own hours. Sixty-five of the 75 stores at the Tanger Outlet Center in Howell will allow shoppers to get an early start. They will be open from midnight to 9 p.m. Friday. The other stores at Tanger will open at 8 a.m.

• Major retail stores: Meijer and Wal-Mart Supercenters will be open 24 hours throughout the Thanksgiving holiday. But the Wal-Mart in Okemos will be closed today and open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday. Kmart stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday. Target stores will be closed today, but will open at 6 a.m. Friday.

• Grocery stores: Kroger stores will be open from 6 a.m. to either 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. L & L Food Centers will be open until 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and reopen at 7 a.m. Friday.

• Banks: Banks will be open Friday.

• Credit unions: Auto Body, Capital Community and Option One credit unions will be closed Friday.

• Postal service: There will be no mail delivery today.

• Transportation: Capital Area Transportation Authority buses will not run on scheduled routes today.

• Libraries: All libraries will be closed today.

The MSU library will be open only from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Libraries in Charlotte, Portland and Potterville also will be closed Friday. The Eaton Rapids and Laingsburg libraries will be closed all weekend as will the state library.

• Museums: The Michigan Historical Museum will be closed today through Saturday, but will be open normal hours Sunday.

• Trash and recycling: City of Lansing and Granger pickups will be delayed by one day starting today. Collections will be on Friday in East Lansing.

• Recreation: East Lansing's Hannah Community Center will be closed today and Friday.
